Apartment Mood Board Series: Bedroom (March 2022)

I took a little break from my future apartment mood boards series. I have no reason why, I just was not that inspired to post about it. I put in some thought on the Bedroom board. I had 2 different types of rooms that I was debating between. I had one with more wood tones and then I had this one which is more a white clean look.

There are 5 main parts to a bedroom I think. You have the bed, nightstands, dresser/closet, desk/vanity, and accent chair. In these posts I’m not going far into details of the rooms. Hopefully when I’m able to use these boards in real life, I can photograph the details that I choose.

I like how this bed has the detail in the corners instead of having a square shape (this bed looks great for under bed storage). I am not one that likes to have an upholstered bed, I just like the look of wood or metal beds. For my mattress I would buy a purple mattress again. I have had one for the last 5 years. When I moved back in with my parents, they were upgrading the guest bedroom bed and I had them get a purple mattress for it just because of how much I find they are comfortable.

Storage is key in a bedroom. I am into mostly closed storage so that things don’t always have to aesthetic. For nightstands, I love the look of a simple table and legs but I have to admit that having 1 drawer is essential so I found this nightstand that looks exactly like what I would need. It even has a shelf on the bottom to put books or your laptop on at night. The dresser is essential in holding all the clothes that I happen to have. This one has great detail on the front panels (this one is also another great options for one with legs).

A desk/vanity is something that I can either have or not in a bedroom. It’s not an essential piece to me. My dad built me a vanity when I was in 6th grade and I loved it growing up. I would use it every time I would get ready, but I know not every bedroom will have space for one. This one is perfect for a minimal look (I also like this one for more storage). The chair needs to be comfy so I really like this one (for lower arms, this one is nice too).

I have always wanted one of these circle accent chairs in my bedroom (I just never had the space for it). Even it didn’t fit in the bedroom I could always put it in the living room as extra seating. I think the pool color is really cool but they have so many different colors and materials that it is hard to pick a favorite. I think having a place to sit/read or a place to put pillows/clothes on is essential in any bedroom.

I don’t know why but apartments tend to not have any lighting in the bedrooms built-in. I have always loved the look of glass shades for lamps. Plus if you get color changing bulbs it would look even better because the light would be able go out instead of down. This table and floor versions are classic looking.

I know a lot of people would say go with brands like Brooklinen or Parachute or Cozy Earth for bedding (if these brands are really worth it, please let me know). I tend to stick with brands that are easy to get so I went some Target bedding. These sheets have so many color options and the material is cotton so it is very breathable. For most of the year I like to have breathable sheets and then in the winter I am partial to switching to flannel. I have realized over the years that I am not a comforter or duvet person. I love a nice fuzzy thick blanket and then other blankets piled on top. I find a comforter/duvet is either to warm/thick or to thin/cold. Also they are a pain to wash (especial if you have larger than a twin bed). This fuzzy blanket and fuzzy throw are the perfect things to have on the bed. You can layer on how many you want and then put them away when you want to style the bed. You may notice I didn’t list any throw pillows for the bed. I am still trying to find ones that I think are worth it. If you know of any that are thick (don’t lose their shape or flatten) and are 100% machine washable, then please let me know.
