6 Disney Park Trip Tips | October 2019

I first went to Disney World when I was 4 and Disneyland when I was 8. I didn’t go back back to either park until I was in my early 20’s.. Since then I have been to Disney World three times and every time has been such a wonderful and magical experience.

I have learned a few trip tips from vloggers that I follow and also my personal experiences through the parks. I thought I would share the ones that I have found most valuable to know.

Tip #1: Book a hotel that is either Disney owned or a “Good neighbor” hotel that is affiliated with Disney:
There are many benefits to staying at this if you want the best experience. One of the biggest benefits is that they offer bus transportation all around Disney property. While I was their in early October they had began to integrate brand new buses that had USB charging ports and Disney character design on the outside.
The other major perk of being “on property” is access to early or later park hours called Magic Hours. This happens almost every day or night for at least one of the parks. It usually lasts about an hour and only guests staying at on property can enter the parks, which means shorter wait times (usually) and less crowds.

Tip #2: Try to book some sort of sit down restaurant for lunch or dinner during your days in a park:
You will most likely get tired during the day and just want know that you will have a place to sit and rest while getting a nice meal. I average about 10 miles of walking per day during my trips, I promise you, your feet will need time to rest!

Tip #3: Plan out your park days ahead of time so you can book fast passes and restaurant reservations as soon as possible:
Fast passes for popular rides are almost impossible to come by the day of (ex: Avatar: Flight of Passage, Slinky Dog Dash and Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride). Some of the more popular restaurants can be hard to get a seat for, especially for dinner day of. Book everything you can ahead of time and then when the day comes you can always change but know that you at least have something booked. even if you can’t plan ahead everything you can still have a really enjoyable experience!

Tip #4: Fast Passes (FP+) beyond the 3 a day:
You are only allowed to book three passes per park per day at a time. Once you use up your 3 fast passes for the day, you can book 1 FP+ at a time. It does pay to keep refreshing your MyDisneyExperience app (which you can download on Apple or Android). Sometimes you can find passes for the more popular rides (Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Expedition Everest, etc) day of. When I was trying to get another Thunder Mountain FP+ it said they were out but I refreshed the page and magically there was another for that day!

Tip #5: Try buying souvenirs before the trip:
Especially if you have kids, buying your souvenirs from a Disney Outlet or shopdisney.com during a sale is key to helping out your wallet. Disney trips can be expensive, buying the awesome merchandise outside the parks can help save money while still getting some cool stuff.

Tip #6: Park Hopper tickets are great but not necessary:
Each park can easily be an all day affair. Park hopper is great if there is only certain rides you want to hit in a park and then want to move on to a different park with different rides. It is also good if you want to spend the day in one park but then have dinner/lunch/breakfast or see fireworks in a different park.

Tip #7: Bring a water bottle:
In Disney World a bottle of water costs $3.50! that is a crazy high price. You can get free ice water from almost any quick service places, generally anywhere they sell fountain drinks, and put the cold water in a insulated water bottle so it stays cold throughout the day. It can really help save the money and the water will stay cooler for longer.
