To continue my series on my future apartment mood boards, I though I would do the “Dining Room”. Most dining rooms in apartments are part of the Living Room or the Kitchen. I wanted to do a separate post on it though instead of combining it into the others.
In my mind, there are 4 main pieces of furniture in a dining room. There is the table, chairs, bar cart or cabinetry, and a form of lighting. I inherited a similar dining table to this one which will be perfect for an apartment. I think some black metal chairs would go perfectly with it and I love the back with the way it wraps around. It is important to have some sort of storage in the dining room, whether this is for drinks, dishware, or random stuff. In an apartment it would be beneficial to have a closed storage so it doesn’t look cluttered but you also want the space to look open instead of boxed off. I think this bar cart would go perfectly in the space. Apartments are notorious for not having enough overhead lighting. A lamp would be beneficial for the space.
Dishware and Drinkware is the next important thing for the room. I love this set of dishes it has clean lines and has matching low bowls which are perfect for pasta. I also like this set of Corelle dishware. I have had Corelle dishware my entire life and it really does hold up well throughout the years. Drinkware is sometimes a conversational piece but I love the simple look of these glasses. I am not an alcohol drinker but I think it is essential to have a set of nice stemware (even if you want to dress up a Sparkling Apple Cider) and these look like a good set. For silverware I would love to go with either stainless steel or brass. I have a set of brass but they are not dishwasher safe so I am looking for a set that can be used for every day stuff. I really like the look of these with the subtle line detail.
Now onto the table top. Since this table has a glass table, I though I would go for some nice cotton place mats (easy to clean). For most days I would use the napkin holder to hold paper napkins but for the occasion I would have people over I love these cotton napkins and napkin rings. I inherited some brass candlestick holders (these give the same look) which I think adds some detail to the table. I am also a big proponent of having salt and pepper shakers at the table (my mom can’t add salt to cooking so I’m use to adding it at the table).
What is something that you love in your dining room?
Is there something that you have to have in the room that isn’t a normal thing?
