Favorite and Least Favorite Places to Eat in Walt Disney World (March 2020)

It’s the start of the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival (which happens to be my favorite seasonal food related event at Disney World). So I thought I would post about some of my favorite and least favorite places to eat at Disney World.

Some of my favorite snacks come from the quick service counters or from festival booths:
1. Dole Whip – You can find this in most of the parks. It is plant based, mainly made of pineapple “ice cream” (which is great for me because I can’t eat ice cream/yogurt while it is hot out, so while others have ice cream, I can have this). They also sometimes sell different flavors (like raspberry or lime) at specific locations around Disney World. They come in soft serve or float version (if you want a liquid version, the Blue Milk in Galaxy Edge tasted fairly similar to me before it began melting in the Florida heat). I ate Dole Whip for the first time during my last trip, but we got it about 4 times throughout the week we were there.
2. Citrus Shortcake – Unfortunately, you can only get this at the Citrus Blossom booth during Epcot Flower and Garden Festival (and I’ve only had it once but it was amazing if you like orange flavor). It is one thing that I haven’t stopped thinking about since I’ve had it and I wish I was able to get it a second time.
3. Cart Snacks – Most quick service cart snacks (Churros, Mickey Pretzels, Popcorn, Turkey Legs, Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar, etc), I can’t recommend. The food has been sitting in the cart most of the day (or get restocked from a quick service counter) and therefore are not getting the correct storage needed for them to taste the best, especially for the price you are paying. You can get most of these snacks at a regular quick service counter too which may make them taste better. These are iconic Disney Park snacks and they are for a reason, they are very photogenic and classic. Sometimes they add specials to them (like the cheeseburger spring rolls or cheese stuffed pretzels).

The Boathouse – Cedar Planked Norwegian Salmon

You have to be strategic with what sit down restaurants you choose. Lunches normally cost less then dinner and have the same or similar menus. Also, most sit down restaurants reservations fill up quickly for dinner, especially if they are near a parade route or have a good site line of fireworks.
We are still trying to find more good sit down restaurants that are good every single time we got to it.
1. The Boathouse This restaurant in Disney Springs is great if you love seafood and if you don’t. It is the one restaurant that we have to go to each time we are in Disney. It is over looking the water of Disney Springs. They are known for their Lobster Roll and their Burger.
2. Kona Cafe This restaurant in the Polynesian Resort tasted great. Take this with a grain of salt because we’ve only eaten there once. The food was a great mix of Polynesian, Sushi, and American cuisine. Some resort restaurants can offer a sense of relief from the overwhelming nature of a Disney World vacation. They tend to be more quiet and have a less overbearing atmosphere.
3. Tony’s Town Square This restaurant in Magic Kingdom has great theming. It is based off the Italian Restaurant in Lady and the Tramp where they share the Spaghetti (They have a statue of them in the middle and also their paw prints out front in the pavement). We’ve eaten here twice. The first time we loved the food, but the second time it was very different. I can’t say that I would recommend this place just for the inconsistency.

The Boathouse – New England Lobster Roll

There are so many options of food to eat in Disney World. There is something for everyone that goes. I haven’t tried every place to eat, and i haven’t tried every place twice, but I love that about each trip. Trying new things gets me excited about going to Disney. The excitement about going to a different place to eat and trying all the different snacks around.
It is nice to have at least one sit down restaurant booked each day though. It is nice to know that you are able to sit down for a while when you are out in the parks all day.

I hope this post was helpful when you are trying to plan your Disney World eating.
What are some of your favorite or least favorite places to eat in Disney?
